Three young mountaineers from Muzaffarabad while paying tribute to Muhammad Ali Sadpara have successfully climbed the famous “Makra Peak” located in Behri Pattehka District Muzaffarabad. This peak also connects Pakistani controlled Kashmir with Hazara Region of the Himalayas.

The Makra Peak is 3,885 metres (12,746 ft) high.

Muhammad Ali Sadpara was a Pakistani high altitude mountaineer who together with two other trying to climb K2, the world’s second highest peak at 8,611m (28,251 ft) and also reputedly the deadliest.

His family and authorities have confirmed their death.

Young mountaineers including Wasim Malik,  Israr Kazmi and Rana Zeeshan from district Muzaffarabad successfully climbed the 12000 feet high mountain   Makra. They have become pioneers to climb the mountain in the winter season. The local community of the area was surprised when they got the news of climbing the Makra in winter season.

While giving remarks the people said that the mountaineers have great courage and enthusiasm because in winters Makra becomes more hostile.

While talking to media Malik Waseem said that ‘we recorded our tributes for great hero Ali Sadpara and remained at Makra without oxygen for one hour’.

‘The Makra peak is a best tourist point however, the area is not developed and community is deprived of basic necessities’, they added.

They called upon government authorities to provide basic facilities and develop infrastructure to the communities living along Makra Peak.
