لندن کے نیم آبی چوہےواپس آرہے ہیں۔ تحریر: مظہر اقبال مظہر : مغرب کو معاشی خودکفالت اور صنعتی ترقی کی دوڑ نے ماحولیاتی تباہی کی جس ڈگر پر ڈالا تھا اس ڈگر پر چل کر وہ واپس فطرت کے قریب جانا چاہتا ہے۔ چار سو سال قبل لندن کے رہائشیوں نے جن نیم آبی چوہوں کو مار مار کر ختم کردیا تھا اب ان کو ڈھونڈ ڈھونڈ کر واپس لایا جار ہا ہے۔ بیور نامی یہ نیم آبی چوہے کسی زمانے میں پورے برطانیہ میں پائے جاتے تھے۔ لیکن 16ویں صدی میں ان کی کھال، گوشت اور غدودوں میں موجود خوشبودار تیل کی وجہ سے ان کا شکار کیا جاتا تھا، جو ادویات اور پرفیوم میں استعمال ہوتا تھا۔ دولت کی ہوس کے نتیجے میں لندن کے قدرتی ماحول کے محافظ یہ آبی انجینئرز برطانیہ سے ناپید ہوگئے تھے مگر کینیڈا، پولینڈ، جرمنی، فرانس، وسطی روس اور جنوبی اسکینڈینیویا جیسے ممالک میں آج بھی بکثرت پائے جاتے ہیں۔ یہ زمین پر دوسر...

Mazhar Iqbal Mazhar is a London-based writer and author. His book titled "Bahawalpur main ajnabi" (Urdu) was published in December 2021. The book is a reflective account of the author’s short stay in Bahawalpur. This is a blend of a travelogue-type portrayal of short trips to the inner city of Bahawalpur that is appended with two short stories. Such a literary experiment could be termed an interpolation of fiction into a travel story. Bahawalpur main Ajnabi -a sort of nondescript genre- is the first published work of the author.
