TTN protests against government failures

Muzaffarabad, June 20, 2010:

Tareek Tameer-e-Nau (TTN) has announced to hold protest rallies and sit- in against the delay of rebuilding of quake hit areas. The sit- in would be held before local Assebly during its ongoing budget session.

It was decided in a meeting of Tahreek Tameer-e-Nau (TTN), which is an alliance of local political parties and civil society organizations campaigning for rights of quake affected areas.

Convener TTN Zahid Amin Kashif chaired the meeting which was attended by representatives of political parties, office bearers of professional bodies and civil society organizations.

The meeting decided to arrange a sit- in, protest rallies and pickets on 24 June (Thursday) in front of Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly in favor public demands for rehabilitation process. A large number of people including the repsentatives of social and political groups will join the protest to express their resentment over the delay of development activities.

It was also decided to share the public concerns with the President, Prime Minister and other senior officials and heads of all political parties.

Briefing the participations about the pace of development activities Zahid Amin Kashif raised concerns and urged the participants to get united to put pressure on the government in order to achieve their goals.

The TTN will also mobilize people to convey their miseries to high ups.

The other speakers were Shoukat Javed Mir, Sectary General TTN, Shokat Gani Advocate, Raja Wasim, Khalid Zaidi and others.
