Press For Peace condemns attack on editor

Rawalakot, Sep 23:

 Press For Peace (PFP)-a human rights organization based in Pakistan controlled Azad Kashmir has condemned the attacked on a local newspaper and called upon the government to take action against the culprits.

 Abid Siddique, chief editor of Daily Dharti (Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir) was threatened by some people who reportedly were furious over an editorial that had appeared in the paper few days ago.

 Criticizing the corporal punishment by some teachers in the schools, the newspaper in its editorial had asked the teachers to act professionally while dealing with the students.
However, a group of local teachers attacked the newspaper and abused the staff of the newspaper and threatened the chief editor of dire consequences.
Press For Peace (PFP) spokesperson Jalal-Uddin Mughal has condemned this act and urged the government to protect the journalists and take action against the people involved in the incident.
