PPF has condemned the brutal assassination of Punjab governor Salman Taseer and urged government to curb the forces which are promoting hatred and violence in the country.

“PFP is concerned over increasing religious intolerance in Pakistani society, where a large number of people are already suffering from social and economic injustices.”

Said a statement issued by the spokesperson of Press For Peace (PFP) here on Sunday.

The statement called upon government of Pakistan to initiate required steps to create and build an environment where citizens can live without any fear.

It said that this recent brutal killing shows Pakistan has a long way to go.

The PFP asked all peace loving people to join hands with moderate and sane voices to make a tolerant and harmonious society as wished by the founder of Pakistan, Mr Jinnah.

“We all must unite peacefully NOW! Only united in peace and understanding we can make the change.”

It said that Islam is the religion of peace; therefore, scholars should highlight the true teaching, which stems with love for mankind, forbearance and none- violence.
